Come to the existing Kingston Community Center next week for one of two 90-minute sessions that will help you figure out how you could become an MPD commissioner (what in the world will those five people be doing when they’re elected?) and/or how you might possibly contribute to the MPD campaign to help the August 17, 2010 ballot measure be successful.
These two meetings will be
Monday May 17, 1-2:30 PM, and
Tuesday May 18, 7-8:30 PM
We’ll have juice and cookies. We’d love to see you there!

Ex-coach charged with raping 2 girls

EVERETT — A former youth-basketball coach accused of raping two young girls and having sexual contact with two others was charged yesterday with child rape, child molestation and possession of child pornography.
David W. Etheridge, 44, of Lynnwood, is being held at the Snohomish County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bail. Prosecutors say they plan to ask a judge to increase his bail to $250,000 when he is arraigned today in Everett District Court. . . .
The girl, who is the only alleged victim to have played basketball for Etheridge, was on his Boys & Girls Club team. She abruptly quit the team shortly after the alleged attack, Jorgensen said. . . .
Boys & Girls Clubs have rigorous employment screening practices: Background
checks, drug testing, and fingerprinting are required for every paid and
volunteer applicant. All of those screening methods are already in use in
Kingston to screen staff and volunteers.
